The image is familiar, the voice is unmistakable, and the music is classic. When Randy Hinson dons his white, sequined jumpsuit to sing the songs of Elvis Presley, audiences might be fooled into thinking the King of Rock & Roll is alive and well. For Hinson, preserving the memory of Elvis is all in a day’s work. “My main objective is to keep the spirit of Elvis alive-I can never be Elvis but I can remind everyone how special he was.” Since becoming an Elvis tribute artist twelve years ago, Randy has entertained audiences at casinos, nightclubs, restaurants, schools, private parties, and retirement homes. Every January, he takes to the high seas as a performer on Carnival’s Ecstasy cruise ship on a special "Tribute Cruise”. Hinson, as the “Spirit of Elvis”, has unveiled material that Elvis planned to record prior to his death in 1977. Mark James, who composed the Elvis hits “Suspicious Minds”, “You Were Always On My Mind”, and “Moody Blue”, offered Randy a song he wrote for Elvis entitled “It’s No Laughing Matter” which he recorded and offers to fans along with his CD’s of Elvis rock and roll and Elvis gospel favorites.
“The Spirit of Elvis” and “The Legends of Rock & Roll” is an exciting, dynamic showcase saluting the songs of Elvis Presley and legends such as Frank Sinatra, Roy Orbison, Conway Twitty, Buddy Holly, Neil Diamond, The Big Bopper (J.P.Richardson), Bobby Helms, and Johnny Mathis.
